class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>An appeal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a written request by an appellant for a review of a possible inadequate assessment of knowledge<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Appellant'<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> means the student or applicant who has lodged the appeal.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Complaint<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> - A request submitted to the University by a student to investigate and assess the acts or omissions of an employee, unit or governing body of the University that may result in a violation of the student's rights or legitimate interests.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-508aea4 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"508aea4\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-f7e7d65\" data-id=\"f7e7d65\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aded0f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"aded0f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><b>An appeal can be made by:&nbsp;<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One student<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A group of students (Where an appeal or complaint is made by a group of students, it shall be signed by all the students, but no more than three students shall be designated as representatives of the group of students, with whom the Appeals Board shall communicate directly.)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Appeal types:&nbsp;<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An appeal against an achievement grade;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An appeal against irregularities in knowledge assessment procedures;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Complaint types:<\/b><b>&nbsp;<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;Against an administrative action, except for appeals concerning the content of study programmes, academic ethics or labour relations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Filing appeals or complaints:<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before submitting an appeal against an achievement grade, the student must, within 3 working days of the date of publication of the grade, contact the lecturer\/committee that assessed him\/her to give him\/her an opportunity to review and discuss his\/her written work.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the student disagrees with the explanations and arguments of the assessor\/committee, he\/she may, within 5 working days from the date of entry of the result into the University's information system, submit a written appeal against any irregularities in the assessment of achievement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An appeal against the assessment of achievement may be made by contacting the assessor within 3 days, while an appeal against breaches of the assessment procedures may be made immediately, without contacting the assessing lecturer or the board.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Appeals and complaints can be submitted to vilniustech@vilniustech.lt<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Appeal against an achievement grade:<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before submitting an appeal against an achievement grade, the student must, within 3 working style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An appeal against the assessment of achievement may be made by contacting the assessor within 3 days, while an appeal against breaches of the assessment procedures may be made immediately, without contacting the assessing lecturer or the board.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Appeals can be made for failure to provide facilities for the taking of assessments.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An appeal may be lodged against a final settlement where a group of more than 30 people is supervised by only one teacher.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Complaint against an administrative action, except for appeals concerning the content of study programmes, academic ethics or labour relations.<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is always possible to report breaches of the Code of Ethics, but it is suggested not to delay too long.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Appeal Boards and their formation:<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Vice-Rector of Studies shall refer the appeal or complaint received to the Appeals Committee of the Faculty or the University.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University Appeals Board hears appeals and complaints against:&nbsp;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Violation of the procedures for assessing achievement or the assessment procedure if the assessor was a dean of a faculty, a vice-dean, the rector of a university, a vice-rector or the head of a department;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a breach of the procedures for assessing achievement or the evaluation procedure, if the evaluation was carried out by the Board;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Actions taken by the administration, except for complaints about the content of study programmes, academic ethics or labour relations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Faculty Appeals Boards hear appeals against the assessment of students' achievements or against infringement of assessment procedures.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An appeal board shall be set up at the faculty within 5 working days from the date of receipt of the appeal by an ordinance of the dean of the faculty in which the department teaching the study subject module is located.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Faculty Appeals Board shall be composed of 3 to 5 members, one of whom shall be appointed Chairperson of the Board.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Appeal Boards must:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To deal with appeals and complaints objectively and impartially;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Respect the rights of the persons taking part in the hearing and observe the principle of equality of arms between all parties to the dispute;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make efforts to reconcile the parties, if possible in the circumstances.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A member of the Appeals Board must:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attend Board meetings and vote on all matters under discussion<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">inform the President of the Board in writing and recuse himself or herself from any appeals or complaints where there are indications of a conflict of interest<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vote objectively and impartially;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not to disclose to any third party any information of which he becomes aware as a result of his work on the Appeals Board;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adhere to academic ethics, <\/span><b>GDPR<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> requirements, confidentiality obligations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>GDPR<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">- General Data Protection Regulation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><b>Content of appeals and complaints:<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The appellant's contact details (name, surname, main programme of study, telephone number, university e-mail)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The subject of the appeal ( subject of study, assessment, assessor, form of assessment )<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Date of publication of the achievement assessment in the mano.vilniustech.lt system<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arguments in support of the appellant's disagreement with the assessment&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Appellant's request&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Appellant's signature<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Appeals and complaints can be submitted to <\/span><b>vilniustech@vilniustech.lt&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n<h3><b>There are three ways in which the appeal can be concluded:&nbsp;<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The appeal is upheld<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The appeal is partially upheld<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The appeal is dismissed<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board shall review the appeal within 30 calendar days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lodging of an appeal shall never diminish the appellant(s)' performance evaluation.
