Library Memo

The mission of the library is to fully satisfy the information needs of the university community for research and studies, taking into account the changing academic environment, the rapid development of science, information and communication technologies development.

When you come to the library for the first time, present your Lithuanian student card (LSP) or other identity document to the library employee, familiarize yourself with the description of the procedure for using the library services and sign the registration form, confirming that you have read the description of the procedure for using the library services and agree to comply with it.  

 

At night (19:00-9:00), on weekends and public holidays, entry is only possible with an activated student ID (LSP), employee ID or VILNIUS TECH card. You can activate your student card (LSP) or employee card to access the Library in the Laboratory Building of VILNIUS TECH University (Saulėtekio al. 11, S6, III a.)

Library users can only use the open reading rooms and study rooms of the Central Library at night, on weekends and on public holidays.

 

Printing, copying and scanning service with a multifunction device

The library provides a self-service printing, copying and scanning service. The multifunctional device can print, copy and scan A4, A3 black and white and color documents. You can send a file for printing from any workstation using Web print function through the print service portal print.vgtu.lt . Payment for services is made by automatic withdrawal from the personal account. You can top up your account at the Customer Service Department with a bank card (Saulėtekio al. 14, hall 101) or using the PayPal payment system.

 

Search and order of publications

The search for publications is carried out in the VILNIUS TECH virtual library, which allows you to search all resources of the Vilnius Gediminas University of Technology library, LST standards catalog, subscribed databases, open access electronic resources.

 

The virtual library can be used from any computerized workstation with Internet access. Those browsing outside the VILNIUS TECH network must use a VPN service to read full-text electronic publications.

 

Issuance/lending of publications

All publications, including periodicals, can be borrowed at home. To borrow publications at home, order them in the virtual library https://vb.vilniustech.lt. In the virtual library, the user can also place an order for the issued publication by reserving it in advance. The ordered publication is stored for 3 working days, after which the order is cancelled. After ordering the publications, receive a notification that the order has been prepared and come to pick it up at the designated place: the Information Center of the Central Library (I a. hall) or the reading room at the faculty.

 

Publications are borrowed from 1 week to 6 months, depending on their demand and the number of copies available.

The desired publication in the library's open collection can be issued independently 24/7, using the self-service device located in the Information Center of the Central Library (I a. hall) or the publication can be issued by an employee (Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.).

Information about submitted orders and their execution progress can be checked in the virtual library by logging in to your account or contacting library staff.

Publications are only loaned to VILNIUS TECH community members.

In case of arrears, publications are not delivered to the home.

 

Return of publications and late fees

Publications can be returned at the Information Center of the Central Library (I a. hall) during working hours or at any time of the day, using the book return facility located near the entrance of the Central Library. In this way, you can return publications taken from any branch of the library.

 

If the publication is not reserved by another user, the period for returning the publication can be extended in the virtual library by logging in to "My library card", submitting a request by phone (8-5) 274 49 00 or by e-mail. via mai biblioteka@vilniustech.lt.

 

Readers who fail to return issued publications on time must pay late fees for each day of delay for each unreturned publication:

0.10 EUR – if the publication was lent for a semester (for a period of 6 months);

0.15 EUR – if the publication was lent for a month or less;

 

If the amount of late interest exceeds EUR 30.00, the employee can offer you to buy a new publication needed by the library instead of the amount of late interest.

 

Library spaces

Members of the VILNIUS TECH community can reserve study rooms for free in the library spaces Vilniustech library page. When making a reservation, the user must select the type of work room, the date and time of the reservation, and fill in the mandatory registration data. After filling out the reservation form, the e-mail you specified a reservation confirmation link will be sent by mail, which you must confirm within 30 minutes. The reservation will be successful only after you confirm the email. link received by mail.

 

Work rooms can be reserved for a limited time - from half an hour to 12 hours*. If the study room reservation time has expired and there is no queue for that room, the reservation period can be extended.

If you see a free study room, you can use it without prior reservation.

A user can reserve one study room at a time.

If the user arrives 1 hour late and does not inform the library staff about it, the reservation may be canceled and the workplace reserved for another user.
