An academic group foreman is a student elected by the academic group to represent the interests and position of his/her academic group.

Election of the Academic Group foreman:

The Academic Group foreman is elected on a competitive basis. At least 2/3 of the students in the academic group must participate in the election. Students who want to become foremen shall express their candidacy, briefly introducing themselves and why they consider themselves suitable for the position. Voting then takes place. If more than one person runs for the position of foreman, the one who receives the most votes from the group becomes the foreman.

What are the main duties of foremen?

• The foreman represents the interests of the students of his/her academic group in various VILNIUS TECH departments;
• Pass on all information to the students of the group, which is provided to him by the VILNIUS TECH administration, heads of departments, lecturers, VILNIUS TECH SA or VILNIUS TECH SA F, and other sources that have direct links with studies.
• The foreman needs to be familiar with the VILNIUS TECH academic group foremen regulations and needs to abide by and follow them;
• In the interests of his/her academic group, the foreman undertakes to provide information to the VILNIUS TECH SA F about inaccuracies in the study programme and to contribute to the improvement of the study programme.

Rights of foremen:

• Receive information on all matters related to studies and study from VILNIUS TECH, the administration of the faculty/institute or departments, VILNIUS TECH SA and/or VILNIUS TECH SA F.
• The right to make proposals to VILNIUS TECH SA, VILNIUS TECH SA F for the improvement of the VILNIUS TECH Student Representative Regulations.
• To vote at conferences organized by his/her faculty/institute VILNIUS TECH SA F.

In what cases can the foreman of an academic group be replaced?

If the foreman suspends his/her studies, takes an academic leave or departs on an Erasmus exchange programme, then a temporary foreman may be elected. The former foreman signs the L.E.P. Foreman Appointment Document and hands over the position to a new person.
